ALL HAIL THE BIGGEST DAY OF THE YEAR...

HAPPY MONDAY!!!

LOL! Kidding! Happy New Year!! Now, let's get back to this Monday thing.

Mondays are great and not at all argued as the best day of the week. (Insert chuckle here!) Today, out of all Mondays is unique. This Monday, of 52, falls on the first day of the year.

Seriously, dust off that gym membership (shout out to Southern Stone Indoor Climbing Gym), write down some resolutions, listen to some Gary Vaynerchuk, and gear up for whatever wild ride 2018 has in store for you.

Let's back track for a minute to last year at this time. January 1st, 2017 - If someone would have asked us where we thought our little cocktail mix company would go, our response would have probably been something snarky like, "The White House or Space." Though not out of the realm of possibilities, 2017 for us was a year of growing interactions.

Moreover so, experiencing our product through the eyes of its users i.e. interacting with you guys at events (Mid City Makers Market - THUMBS WAY UP!!) , festivals, parties, dinners, social media, and some random chance meetings at restaurants (you know who you are, LOL!).

Interaction with our patrons is everything to us and living our brand to the fullest is key.

Keeping with the theme, 2018 is going to be packed with so much f&*king interaction that it will make your head spin. In the words of Will Ferrell - "Nobody knows what it means but it's provocative...It gets the people going!!

If you really want a preview, well... here goes, think -  Video Series - Podcast - Crowd Funding - NOLA Bourbon Fest 2018 - Mid City Makers Market 2018 Series - Parties - Contests - Liquor Reviews - New Flavors - Beefy Blogs - Calendar - More Photos of Matt - Trips - Adventure - Suspense - Leisure Lords - Merch - Interviews - Las Vegas - France - Pop's Poboys - Etc.

Bee's Knees?!?

Yea, you know that classic gin cocktail you have probably never had?

Time you two meet.

What's your type?

Scanning the bar, your vision narrows... Tall, tan, delicious, and refreshing. Wait, what? ...Refreshing? Like a partner, everyone is attracted to and enjoys different libations. It doesn't matter if you're a cocktail novice or a drinking demigod, knowing which type of cocktail you prefer can make an ordinary night into an extraordinary one.

$50 Dolla Make You Holla!

Not all spirits are created equal.

This week we came across a very informative video from Business Insider titled "Whiskey Expert's Favorite Bottles Under $50".

In this video, Tommy Tardie, whiskey expert and owner of The Flatiron Room in NYC, breaks down the nuances of 5 whiskeys under $50. Delving into the history of each and giving a little insight as to what makes these 5 whiskeys top of their class.

To quote Tommy, "There's no best whiskey, it's really just based on your palette." So sit back, make a Leisuremann's Old Fashioned with your favorite whiskey and enjoy this short video!

Thanks Tommy!

Cheers!

Less About the Mix

Bourbon is traditionally used to make an old fashioned. Whiskey is the most common deviation from that.

We engineered our mix to compliment these liquors in particular. Our goal was to enhance the liquor experience itself and not overshadow the beautiful subtlety that each brand presents. There is a reason people prefer "Brand A" to "Brand B, C, or D".  Particular aromas, finishes, wood and nut flavors, etc, all play into why you purchase that particular bottle. That seems obvious right?

So why make a product that removes those experiences and enjoyment?

This question played over and over in our head when we sampled various mixes on the market. Not to our surprise, these samplings all did exactly what we expected; they all destroyed the integrity of the liquor. They were not what we call, "Whiskey Forward". It was absolutely critical that our mix did not follow this example.

As a result, we have seen more experimentation, more quickly, than we would have ever anticipated. I was just discussing recently this deviation with two or my close friends. One choose Irish Whiskey, the other, Gin. Irish whiskey, I can understand to a degree. Gin however, peaked my interest considerably.

Lets not stop there. Lets compound this a bit more.

I prefer to mix my old fashioned with aged rum.  Now we have three, non traditional old fashioneds that are receiving positive marks. The diversity of liquors already being used with Leisuremann's mix was an awesome feeling. This experimentation would have not been possible if we didn't take the "Whiskey Forward" approach to heart. Sure, our mix is going to bring sweetness, citrus, and subtle numerous flavors to your drink. Not enough, however, to compromise the most crucial element of your cocktail.

You want the truth?  You can handle the truth. You are enjoying the liquor.

We wouldn't have it any other way.

Feels good man.
