MOJITO

Refreshing Mint - Fresh Lime - Simple Syrup

The world's most refreshing cocktail!

With an ancestry dating back to the 1500s, the Mojito should really be called the world’s oldest cocktail. Though not official by any means the record books scribe that what we call The Mojito today was invented way, way, way back in 1586 by a Spanish named Sir Francis Drake. Sir Francis, as the name implies, was of pinkies out status, and traveled the world for Spain looking for new areas to conquer and claim.

As the legend goes in the 1580s Sir Francis stumbled upon Cuba where the indigenous were making a medicinal beverage out of sugar cane spirits, lime, mint, and the juice from the sugar cane. Sir Francis became smitten by this elixir of life and thus brought it with him through his travels onward enjoying it at every port of call he came to.

Fast forward through the centuries and the “Drake” as Sir Francis’ drink became to be known morphed and was popularized and published in the early 1930s by Bacardi and none other than everyone’s favorite Uncle…Ernest Hemingway.

As the decades rolled on till today the humble Mojito has grown and morphed into a ubiquitous cocktail, easily accessible or dare we say “crushable” at any number of watering holes around the world. We will caution though as everyone can make a Mojito but few can make a Mojito well. Cheers to the Mojito!
